Poway is referred to as "The City in the Country," and it has maintained much of its rustic charm. Located north of the San Diego along the I-15 corridor, Poway is a growing suburban community with a great deal to offer. Known for its excellent schools and its many recreational opportunities, the area still has many areas zoned for horses and homes are often on large lots giving the area a rural feel. Old Poway Park is the heart of the community and hosts a number of events including craft shows, farmer's markets and blacksmith demonstrations. Lake Poway, formed when the Poway dam was built, offers fishing, picnic areas and boating. Poway offers a variety of homes for different budgets, ranging from some of the lowest prices in the county to estates fetching over $5 million. Some of the newer communities include Green Valley Estates and Bridlewood Estates, both home to large luxury ranch and spanish style residences on large lots. Green Valley offers custom homes built around a network of horse trails. The Stoneridge Country Club is at the center of the Stoneridge development that offers mid-priced homes and is popular with families. Sabre Springs, one of Poway’s newest areas, was designed and built by Pardee Homes as a master-planned community and offers apartments, town homes, and single-family residences.
