The town of Vista takes its name from the Spanish word for "view" perhaps referring to its location among the rolling coastal hills of North San Diego County. For many years, Vista was known as an agricultural area; today, however, homes and condos are replacing flower fields and citrus groves. Families are attracted to the best of the San Diego lifestyle and Vista’s small town ambiance.
Vista still has a relatively low median home price and presents a terrific investment opportunity as the area’s popularity grows. Moncado Springs, one of the largest residential projects in the area, features 195 new single-family detached homes in six different architectural styles: Italianate, Salt Box Colonial, French Country, Tudor, Spanish Colonial, and Bungalow. To the south is the Shadowridge community, a well-planned area offering single-family homes around the Shadowridge Country Club. Warmlands and Buena Creek, in the north, feature custom homes built on large lots.
With a newly redeveloped downtown area, Vista Village, business is booming. Offering boutiques, the Krikorian Theatre, the Avo Theatre, the Wave Waterpark (the only family water park in North County), and restaurants, the Village is a lively town center.
